GOBELINS is proud to welcome the first Master of Arts in Character Animation and Animated Filmmaking class! Back on the first months of this new adventure ... 17 nationalities, 100% passion for animation!
The integration week
To best welcome our new students, GOBELINS has concocted a week full of activities to facilitate the "connection" between them ... Five intense days where they produced in teams short videos, posters and illustrations on the Super Heroes theme. Cohesion, good mood and passion have made this week a beautiful memory of their arrival.
Meeting with Albert Uderzo
On October 6th, 2016, students met with the creator of the famous comic Albert Uderzo, who unveiled the cover he drew for the anniversary edition of the album from the movie Twelve Tasks of Astérix. Albert Uderzo, accompanied by Anne Goscinny and Louis Clichy, a former student of GOBELINS and co-director of the film Astérix and the Mansions of the Gods, revealed to students the secrets of this new edition.
Due date of the first exercises!
After a month and a half, the young animators gave back their first exercises. Organized by team, they had to set up an animatic based on a script written by another team. The objective: to respond to an order and to appropriate a project…
Meeting with John Coven
For three weeks, John Coven, storyboard artist, worked with students on a workshop to teach them the art of storyboarding. They thus formed teams of 5 to realize a 5 minutes animatic from a scenario written by another team.
Meeting with Franck Dion
On January 12th and 13th, the students were able to attend a conference hosted by Franck Dion, director and illustrator. He also advised them on their work.

For a period of five months (Jan-May), the 3rd year animation students at GOBELINS worked on a short film project entitled "LOVE Sequences".
