GOBELINS does its show at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival
For over 30 years, the school has been participating in the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. This year, the Festival will take place from Monday 13th of June to Saturday 18th of June. It will also be the occasion for GOBELINS to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of its Animation Department!
During the festival, several events and screenings are programmed to highlight the school and its young and older talents…
- As each year, 2nd year students from the Character Animation and Animated Filmmaking programme, have produced short films for the Festival. This year, the theme of these shorts is “La France à l’honneur”. Every day during the festival, spectators will discover one of their films opening the screening. These animations will also be available online on GOBELINS’ Youtube channel.
- A retrospective screening of films made by our students for over 40 years (a programme developed in collaboration with Jean-Baptiste Garnero, in charge of documentary studies at the French Film Archives – CNC) will be projected on Tuesday 14th of June from 4:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. at the Bonlieu Cultural Center in Annecy.
- Three films made by last year’s students have been selected to participate in the “Graduation Films” competition: Ama, Que Dalle and Wildfire.
- « Animated Filmmaking in France », a documentary series in three parts, which gives for the first time, an overview of animated filmmaking in France and addresses, amongst other topics, the diversity of animation schools … amongst which GOBELINS, l’école de l’image. These three documentaries, produced by Qwaraz in co-production with 8 Mont-Blanc, will be screened in theaters on Tuesday 14th of June in Annecy and from Monday 13th of June during a special programme on CINE PLUS FAMIZ.
GOBELINS teaching staff and students will also be present at MIFA (Annecy International Market of Animation Film) from Wednesday the 15th to Friday the 17th of June (GOBELINS stand: 3.006).
Furthermore, 3D Animator students and former graduates of GOBELINS will meet animation studios wishing to recruit them on Thursday the 16th June from 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
